I have been painting the Forest of Dean for four years. I always paint in my preferred medium of oil on canvas as I can really work the paint and make any alterations as necessary as the painting develops. I especially love to paint sun light pouring through the trees because that’s the sort of days I love to be out and about walking my dog, while nursing my digital camera , trying to capture the light and energy bursting through the Forest. Each spring, summer, autumn and winter is different from the last so there is never a lack of subjects to paint in the Forest. The tourist attractions, the wildlife, flora and fauna, the towns and villages and upon occasions I have been commissioned to paint house portraits and animals. I am self taught and have sold well throughout the Forest and Wye valley area. Last year I exhibited at The Shop at Brockweir for six weeks immediately followed by taking part in Open Studios where once again I sold a number of works. I then exhibited for six weeks in The Dean Heritage Museum becoming the Heritage Centre’s best selling artist. I am also commissioned by Puzzlewoods to paint their magical woods and those paintings can be viewed and purchased from Puzzlewoods gift shop and café. My work can also be viewed and sold through out the year through The Croft Restaurant and Café in Ross-on-Wye:
The Swan Art and Craft Studio in Monmouth, and the Rainbow Christian Bookshop and café in Chepstow. I shall be exhibiting this year in Taurus Crafts from the 20th May 2011 until 27th June 2011 and then again at the Dean Heritage centre this September.
I hope you enjoy walking through the forest with me in my work.
